Chinese Language Collection: How can I request books?

How can I request Chinese Language Collection books from the library?

If you're an Ambrose student, alum, or employee, you can request books for pickup. Follow these steps to search the library's catalogue for a call number that you find in the Chinese Language Collection spreadsheet:

1. Go to the library's Browse Search page and select Library of Congress call numbers from the drop-down menu:

2. When you've found a book you want to borrow in the spreadsheet, make a note of the call number in the Call Number column:

3. In the search bar, enter the call number but do not include CHIN. Then click the magnifying glass to execute your search:

4. You should see the book at the top of the results list, and the record will most likely be in Pinyin:

5. Click the title of the book to go into the record to see if the book is available and to sign in to your account to request it:

6. Once you're signed in, you'll see a Request button:

7. Once you submit your hold, library staff will find the book on the shelf and you'll receive an email letting you know the book is ready for pickup!

NOTE: This hold request service is only available to Ambrose students and employees.
